OpenReports update – Code in Subversion, Struts 2, Etc.
May 15th, 2007
I have moved the OpenReports code on SourceForge from CVS to Subversion and committed a large number of enhancements and bug fixes that I’ve been working on since the OpenReports 2.2 release. Here is a list of the most important changes:
- Migrated From WebWork 2 to Struts 2 (and replaced the old WebWork IOC with Spring)
- Replaced all Dojo JavaScript with code from the Yahoo User Interface (YUI) library
- Added OLAP support via Mondrian and JPivot
- Added A Velocity ReportEngine for creating Text or HTML reports from Velocity templates
- Enhanced the workflow of the Admin screens with popup dialogs and new screen designs
- And lots of other small bug fixes and improvements
And here is a list of things to consider when upgrading from OpenReports 2.2
- JDK 1.5 (Java 5) is now required
- There is one new table: OR_TAGS
- The report upload directory must be specified in struts.properties
- QueryReport templates are not supported
- Do not upgrade your production server!

Hello. Thanks for the update! I pulled the latest version of the source from subversion and am having troubles deploying into JBOSS. Have you tried JBOSS with the latest source?
Thanks,

Hi,
Not being a developer I will be content to wait for the release of the new version. Do you have a possible release date.
Regards,
Mpume

Hi,
Eclipse BIRT is really the best solution for us (mostly because of its report designer and multiple datasource support) but we really need an XLS emitter. Will the next version of openreports support version 2.2 which finally has the XLS emitter built-in ?
We are a potential pro customer, but this support is a show-stopper for us.
Regards,
PA

I’d really love to see BIRT 2.2 supported by OpenReports. Is this in the planning, and is there a schedule? Even maybe only for the pro version?

I am integrating the current version of OpenReports with a solution being developed in house. The new version seems to be a very nice upgrade. Any idea of when it will be beta-ready or production-ready?

Looks like v3.0 is gradually trickling onto SourceForge CVS this month. Looking forward to the final release.
